Discussion: Favorite Album (Thus Far) of 2008

Hey guys and gals.. hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
It seems as though no one really comments on anything here, and the writers of Nothing Much To Say would like to change that. Whether you know us or not, it would be really cool to hear your opinions on whatever we write or the artists that we write about. (We love new people…don’t be shy!)
To expedite the thousands of comments that are now going to be coming in (no sarcasm in there…nope, not at all), I’ve decided to write “Discussion” posts every now and then. We honestly would love to hear all of your differing opinions on the art of music.

So far, I think you have to look at R.E.M.’s Accelerate. A fantastic, not-quite-a-comeback album, but a good step in the right direction. Vintage Stipe lyrics and Buck chord changes, on top of Mills’ harmonies. How can you go wrong? I’m also looking forward to the new My Morning Jacket record, which is supposed to be out in June (I found this out last night). Good topic though–I imagine lively conversation following my lame comment…
What do you think the best is then, Miss Kate?
I can’t form an opinion on the new R.E.M. yet…I actually haven’t even heard one track from the record.
So far, I’d have to say it’s Vampire Weekend for me. Sure, that’s the “cool” thing to say these days, but that’s not why I like them. Their style is just refreshing. I love it.
